This month, Voto Latino celebrated its tenth birthday in style...

Voto Latino La Santa CeciliaLast week, Voto Latino, a nonpartisan organization dedicated to empowering “Latino Millennials to claim a better future for themselves and their community,” celebrated its ten year anniversary. Top supporters came out for the event, as did many stars, such as La Santa Cecilia, the grammy winning band. Guests and patrons joined together with Chairwoman Rosario Dawson and Voto Latino President and CEO, María Teresa Kumar in celebrating.

“In the past 10 years, Voto Latino has registered more than 300,000 new voters, secured more than $150 million to local communities through census efforts, launched the firstever SMS voter registration drive and SMS GOTV reminders, helped enroll Latinos in the Affordable Care Act, testified before the President’s Task Force on 21st Century Policing, cofounded National Voter Registration Day, advocated for comprehensive immigration reform, and much more.”

At the celebration, the winners of the VL Innovators Challenge, a tech competition for Millennials between the ages of 18 and 34, were announced. You can see the winners here.
