Music | #TBT Gasolina by Daddy Yankee

To celebrate Daddy Yankee's Latin Billboards success we're honoring him in our Throwback Tune of the month... Check it out now!

Daddy Yankee

Puerto Rican singer, Daddy Yankee, partnered up with MetroPCS during this year’s Latin Billboard Conference. To celebrate the occasion, we wanted to fuel up and dance to the song that helped Daddy Yankee reach new corners of the world, and new heights in his career… Gasolina!

Gasolina was part of Daddy Yankee’s 2004 album, Barrio Fino. This album not only performed well on sales charts in the United States, Latin America, Europe, and Japan, but it also went on to win several major awards. These awards included a Premio Lo Nuestro for “Album of the Year” and a Latin Billboard for “Reggaeton Album of the Year.” That same year, Daddy Yankee was also nominated for a Latin Grammy and an MTV Video Music Award, so it’s safe to say that Gasolina was a major turning point in his career.

This reggaeton song aims to challenge anyone to stand up and dance. Its lyrics touch on getting ready for a night out and rocking your best look. Fueling whatever means of transportation you need to get to the party. Fueling ourselves with Gasolina to kill it all night on the dance floor.

Are you ready to ask for more Gasolina?
