Remmy Valenzuela's 'Mi Princesa' retains top spot on Mexican radio charts

It’s been a good month for Remmy Valenzuela. First the video for “Mi Princesa” surpassed 100 million views on YouTube. Now the single is sitting pretty at the top spot on the Mexican radio charts for the fourth week in a row.

Like the video, it’s easy to see why the song is resonating with listeners.

The singer croons about a girl whose heart has been broken by a former lover. In a time where it seems like finding worthwhile love is harder than ever, it’s nice to hear someone say they want to treat you right.

While there is no readily apparent accordion for the “The Prince of the Accordion’s” single, there is a lot of technical and musical substance to the piece. The big band accompaniment transports the listener to another era, and yet it still feels timeless.
