Carla’s Tips: This Summer Must Have Around the Pool

How is your summer going so far? I’ve spent mine enjoying as much time under the sun as possible attending BBQs, pool parties and laying at the park. I’m still looking forward to going to the beach, but not to worry, as it is already in the cards for me.

If you have been spending any time near bodies of waters you know that having a nice fitting swimsuit is half of the battle. You also need a pretty cover-up for when you are mingling outside of the water. I can confidently tell you that summer 2014 is the year of the kimono.

Friend and celebrity stylist, Derek Warburton, was raging about them on his most recent summer tour around the US. Then, my best friend got compliments all day long at a recent pool party when she wore hers. And to wrap it all up, I recently received the lookbook of a very fun Australian brand that has incorporated a pretty version in their most recent collection. What more proof do you need?

Just wear one of these fun pieces over your bikini or one-piece and you are good to party among the people. I love the way it falls longer in the back. You definitely look like you are completely covered! (If you really want to be fully covered, you can close it with a thin belt around the waist.) Some are even adorned with fun fringes, making them that more appealing. This piece will also come in handy when fall comes along as you can wear it over tanks and long-sleeve t-shirts, with shorts or jeans!

My suggestions is for you to get your hands in at least one this season, and get ready to be complimented all summer long. Shop my favorite kimono finds here!
