A look back at the 2013 Hispanic Heritage Awards...
The Hispanic Heritage Awards were established by The White House in 1987 to commemorate the creation of Hispanic Heritage Month in American. They’re considered to be among “the highest honor for Latinos by Latinos” and they recognize notable figures in the Latino community who have made a positive impact on America, and the world, in their various fields. In preparation for this year’s awards The Hispanic Heritage Foundation has just released the following announcement:
“The 27th Annual Hispanic Heritage Awards will take place on September 18, 2014, at the Warner Theatre in Washington, DC. The 2014 Hispanic Heritage Award Honorees will be announced by mid-August.
The Awards are unique in that celebrities take the stage alongside physicians, scientists, educators, innovators, public officials, community and business leaders, and even young leaders. Surrounding events include an intimate honorees’ dinner the night before, a festive after-party and an energizing Youth Leadership Summit.
Sponsors have the unique opportunity to share the stage and make an indelible impression on the Latino community in and out of the theatre through cross-promotional opportunities, packaging of the Awards as an educational tool distributed by HHF and through HHF’s year-round programs. The Awards serve as the launch of HHF’s year-round mission to inspire, identify, prepare and position Latino leaders in the classroom, community and workforce to meet America’s priorities.
As we again approach Hispanic Heritage Month, we look forward to inducting a new class of honorees in September. The most recent recipients where honored at the Sept. 5, 2013 Awards in front of a black-tie audience of 1,200 influential guests, including White House officials, members of Congress, ambassadors and representatives from 40 national Hispanic organizations who co-hosted the program. The evening featured a moving stage production with today’s hottest Latino entertainers that paid tribute to the honorees.
